Unexpected Water Damage - Areas of Concern
8/27/2019 (Permalink)
Water damage is every home and business owner’s concern. We are all aware that a roof needs to be inspected for signs of that kind of damage, or that plumbing is something to keep your eye on as it ages. These are areas that we would expect to be a problem when it comes to property damage.
But what about your washing machine connections? That’s a place where there can be hard water deposits that can corrode pipes and hoses, causing them to explode when you are not looking for it. And if it happens when you are at work, there can be a significant issue by the time you return home! Make an inspection of your laundry room part of your routine, and pay attention to all the outlets, hoses, and piping, to make sure they are in working order.
Another part of your house or business that can become damaged by water over time is around the base of your toilets. As your bathrooms age, the seals that were installed at the time the house was built or the toilet was put in will break down and corrode, sometimes developing tiny holes that will leak small amounts of water. This little leakage can really hurt your flooring without you even noticing it until it’s too late. Keeping records of the dates of renovations and repairs for appliances, etc. can help to remind you to take a look every now and then to see what needs your attention.
