Flash Flooding in Brunswick

1/13/2023 (Permalink)

Flash Flood Warning-- the alert that many of us dread because of the concerns that our homes will be affected by it. SERVPRO of Brunswick understands that your home is more than a structure: it's your family’s furniture, clothing, keepsakes, and other belongings that help transform your house into a home.

Here are some helpful suggestions on how to protect your property when a disaster happens.

 How to Protect Your Property:

  • Keep insurance policies, documents, and other valuables in a safe-deposit box. Keep them in a place where it's least likely to be damaged by a flood.
  • Install check valves in building sewer traps to prevent floodwater from backing up into the drains of your home.
  • Seal walls in basements with waterproofing elements to avoid leakage through cracks.

Protecting Your Home - Storm Damages

9/9/2022 (Permalink)

Most people dream of having a beach home, and you have to admit - it’s pretty awesome. The view of the waves and the dunes from the Golden Isles and the Brunswick area are always amazing and a welcome sight at the end of the day, and the fact that you can walk down to the water in seconds is always something that warms your heart.

But there are those times of the year when a beach house in the Brunswick area is a worry. Summers are idyllic, and even Spring isn’t bad, but Fall? And the hurricanes? That’s another story entirely.

To be prepared, you will need to inspect your property regularly and look for trouble spots before those stormy times come.

Over time, every house experiences damage from weather, and you want to make sure there are no loose ends to wrap up. Loose siding or shutters? How about that roof? Do your windows close properly, and do all exterior doors fit as they should? Can those shutters close the way they should to protect your windows during a storm? Strong winds can make short work of those parts of your home that are not in as good repair as they should be.

The landscaping at a beach home in the Brunswick area is usually tropical in nature, which means palm trees. And they can get pretty big! Have your trees and other vegetation been trimmed appropriately and removed if they are not doing well? During a storm, a lot of damage can be done by flying branches and palm fronds, or at the very least, they can leave you a really big mess to clean up!

Salt air is rough on beach-side houses and buildings, so keeping an eye on your property for damages is a good idea. Rotting wood on your home can become a hazard during storms if not cared for. Flying debris can break windows and severely damage cars left on the street.

The SERVPRO team of Brunswick is standing at the ready to help you with any storm damage you may have suffered, as well as working with you to prevent those damages in the future. From fire damage to mold prevention, SERVPRO is a friend in need! Contact us at (912) 264 6094 or on our website: http://www.SERVPRObrunswick.com/

NOAA Predicts "Above Average" Hurricane Season

8/8/2022 (Permalink)

Green van and back of flame semi truck We are always here to help!

With a fairly quiet 2021 Hurrican Season, experts with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predict an “above-average” 2022 Atlantic hurricane season. NOAA predicts 14 to 21 named storms, including three to six major hurricanes.

NOAA says there is a 65% chance of an above-normal season, a 25% chance of a near-normal season, and a 10% chance of a below-normal season.

SERVPRO of Brunswick remains prepared for all forecasts for severe weather in Coastal Georgia. The last major Hurricane that hit the Georgia coast was, Hurricane Michael. A "Major Hurricane" is classified of anything from a CAT 3- CAT 5 Hurricane. Ranging in wind speeds over 110MPH! With Hurricane Michael in 2018, the rainfall fortunately was only 6.8 inches due to how fast the storm moved through the area. 6.8 inches of rain still caused tremendous damage to local homes and businesses.

Remember SERVPRO of Brunswick is always here to help assist our neighbors.

Severe Weather – Be Prepared

6/27/2022 (Permalink)

Severe weather can happen anytime, anywhere. Each year, Americans cope with an average of:

  • 10,000 severe thunderstorms
  • 5,000 floods or flash floods
  • 1,000 tornadoes
  • 2 land falling deadly hurricanes

Approximately 98 percent of all presidentially declared disasters are weather-related, leading to around 100’s of deaths per year and billions of dollars in damage. Knowing your risk of severe weather, taking a few actions and being an example to others are just a few steps you can take to be better prepared to save your life and assist in saving the lives of others.

Know your risk.  The first step to becoming weather-ready is to understand the type of hazardous weather that can affect where you live and work, and how the weather could impact you, your business and your family. Check the weather forecast regularly, obtain a NOAA Weather Radio, and learn about Wireless Emergency Alerts. Severe weather comes in many forms and your shelter plan should include all types of local hazards.

Take Action.  Take the next step in severe weather preparedness by creating a communication plan for your home and business. Put together or purchase an emergency kit. Keep important papers and valuables in a safe place.

Be an Example.  Once you have taken action to prepare for severe weather, share your story with co-workers and family and friends on Facebook or Twitter. Your preparedness story will inspire others to do the same.

Build an Emergency Supply Kit:

  • Water (one gallon per person per day)
  • Food (non-perishable 3-day supply)
  • Manual can opener
  • Battery operated radio, preferably a NOAA Weather Radio
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Whistle to signal for help
  • Clothing
  • Dust masks or bandanas
  • Plastic sheeting, garbage bags and duct tape
  • Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
  • Hygiene items
  • Important documents; copies of insurance policies, identification and bank account information
  • Cash
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Matches in a waterproof container

Summer Storms are on the Way

4/21/2022 (Permalink)

A rocking chair in an attic is shown Check your attic for damage regularly. It’s important to assess your attic space as often as you check other parts of your home.

Summer is on the way, and with it comes sunshine, vacations, and freedom from school. Storms are also a part of summer and can cause a lot of damage to your home and property.

Inspecting your home before and after a summer storm is always a good idea, but don’t forget your attic! Your attic is one of the places in your home that you won’t visit regularly; usually, a trip up to the attic is only made when you need something you have put up for a rainy day. It’s important to check your attic area periodically for leaks and water damage after a summer storm.

Your attic will also take the brunt of storms, right along with your roof. When the roof sustains damage such as loose or missing roofing material, you will probably see water stains in the attic, letting you know a problem is developing.

Follow these tips to help you keep on top of any damage to your attic:

Check your attic for damage regularly. It’s important to assess your attic space as often as you check other parts of your home. You’ll want to make sure this area isn’t holding water, which can spread to problems with your interior ceilings.

Check your roofing after severe summer weather. It’s crucial to check all roofing after a strong storm and/or high winds to ensure it is still intact. If there has been any damage, have it repaired immediately. Some areas of the country see stormy weather pretty regularly.

If your attic has exterior windows, ensure that they are properly fitted and in good repair to alleviate any possible future leaks.

Make sure boxes, furniture, and other items that may be stored in your attic are pulled away from the walls so that you can see if and when water damage occurs. Cover these items with plastic and seal boxes well to keep your property from suffering.

If you find water damage, it's time to bring in SERVPRO of Brunswick. We specialize in storm and flood damage restoration. Our crews are highly trained, and we use specialized equipment to restore your property to its pre-storm condition.

SERVPRO of Brunswick, we are always ready to help with cleanup after water and fire damage and are experts in the area of mold remediation. Call us at (912) 264-6094.

Tropical Depression, Cyclones and Tropical Storms

3/24/2022 (Permalink)

A photo is shown of a tropical storm SERVPRO of Brunswick stays alert and ready to assist you if your home or business suffers a storm related damage.

The first part of a tropical weather event is called a tropical depression. Tropical depressions are cyclones with winds that gust at 38 miles per hour or less. While tropical cyclones don't have the strength of tropical storms or hurricanes, they can bring significant amounts of rain, thunderstorms and devastating floods.

A tropical depression is upgraded to a tropical storm when the cyclone’s circulation is more organized and has wind speeds of 39 to 73 miles per hour. Tropical storms bring large amounts of rain and can cause enough wind and water activity to damage boats and erode beaches.

Storms can be very unpredictable and that's why preparation is key. Keep your Hurricane Supply Kit prepared for not only hurricanes, but tropical storms and flooding as well.

SERVPRO of Brunswick is available 24 hours a day for storm emergencies, large or small. When you are dealing with storm damage, immediate action is crucial. A delay of just a few hours can greatly increase the severity of the storm damage. A fast response lessens the damage, limits further damage, and reduces the restoration cost. Since we are locally owned and operated, we are able to respond quicker with the right resources, which is extremely important.

SERVPRO of Brunswick stays alert and ready to assist you if your home or business suffers a storm related damage. We offer a wide range of services such as roof tarping, window and door board ups, as well as water restoration. We are always HERE to HELP. Call us anytime at (912) 264-6094.

Is Your Brunswick Home Storm Ready?

9/8/2021 (Permalink)

A gutter is shown overflowing due to heavy rainfall Well maintained gutter systems are much better at diverting water to proper drainage areas

Summer storms can appear on the horizon quickly and can surprise you with their violence. Large amounts of rainfall can be devastating to a home or commercial building, causing storm damage and water damage that can take a significant amount of time and expense to repair.

There are several steps you can take to prepare your property for inclement weather events and possible flooding. Preventive measures will reduce the amount of flood and storm damage sustained.

MAINTAIN ROOFS AND GUTTERS:  Well maintained gutter systems are much better at diverting water to proper drainage areas, while a roof that is in good repair will prevent water in the interiors of your buildings. If your gutters are clogged with dead leaves and debris, rainwater can overflow and saturate the ground around the foundations causing damage there, while backed-up water can spill into wall structures. A regular cleaning schedule for your gutters is a good idea, and regular roof inspections will reveal problems quickly and allow you to repair problem areas before bad weather hits.

STORM DRAINS: Storm drains need to be maintained properly, as well. These are in place to move excess water away from buildings and driveways. Your local government is usually responsible for this, but keeping an eye on them around your property will allow you to be able to report a problem right away so that repairs can be made, leaving you ready for storm waters.

RESPONSE PLAN: Have a plan ready for work staff and loved ones. In the event of flooding, make sure you have a system in place to communicate to everyone so that they know whether to travel or not. No one should drive through flood waters. Listening to weather updates is a good idea, and you’ll want to make sure you keep an emergency preparedness kit on site.

SERVPRO of Brunswick is locally owned and operated, we are able to respond quicker with the right resources, which is extremely important. A fast response lessens the damage, limits further damage, and reduces the restoration cost.

Understanding Georgia Storms, Damaging Straight-line Winds And Large Hail

8/28/2021 (Permalink)

Lightning is shown in a dark sky The SERVPRO of Brunswick team is experienced and equipped to assist you in the event of storm damage, give us a call today at (912) 264-6094

Today, technology makes it easier than ever to stay weather aware.

Storms can become a problem with little to no warning. Watching the news can keep us informed beforehand, but bad weather is still unpredictable, so we need to take steps to keep our homes safe from the damages that storms can cause.

All thunderstorms are dangerous because they can produce strong winds, lightning, tornadoes, hail and flash flooding. But because they are so common, people often become complacent and fail to take safety precautions.

Georgia’s greatest threats from severe thunderstorms are damaging straight-line winds and large hail. Straight-line winds can reach speeds in excess of 58 mph and produce damage similar to a tornado.

These winds occur about 75 days per year in Georgia and are most common in the spring and summer months, peaking in July. According to the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.

Conducting an inspection of your home’s premises is vital to complete before inclement weather hits.

A leaky roof or windows can be big problems during extreme conditions such as heavy rains and high winds. Do all your exterior doors and windows fit correctly, and is the weather stripping in these areas in good condition? When is the last time you took a look at your roof to see if it is storm ready?

Loose shutters and rain gutters can present a real problem in high winds, as can unstable large trees. It’s a good idea to trim back trees and bushes with large heavy branches that are not in good condition so that windows and vehicles are not in danger of storm damage in high winds.

Many homes in older cities have drainage ditches at the front of the property. Take time to inspect this area and remove debris or dirt that might obstruct the flow of water from a heavy rain. A clogged drainage ditch can cause a lot of damage by backing up and flooding your property both during or after a storm.

In the event of impending bad weather, do you have a system in place that will help you to get information to everyone? Most of us use our cell phones to communicate these days, but your cell phone service could be at risk when rough conditions hit.

You might consider installing a good old-fashioned landline, just in case. If you or a family member gets stuck or injured at work or out doing errands, they may need help, so it’s vital that lines of communication stay open.

SERVPRO of Brunswick specializes in storm and flood damage restoration. Our crews are highly trained and we use specialized equipment to restore your property to its pre-storm condition. Since we are locally owned and operated, we are able to respond quicker with the right resources, which is extremely important.

Here at SERVPRO of Brunswick, we want you to be safe. We’re sharing some guidelines below that will help you to be ready and safe if and when damaging coastal storms hit the area and storm damage is imminent.

Before a storm:

Prepare for a possible evacuation by testing your emergency communication plan with your loved ones.

Make sure everyone knows your evacuation routes and knows where to stay.

Stock emergency supplies, and pack to-go bags.

Collect all important documents and safeguard them.

During a storm:

Follow all guidance from your local authorities. If you are advised to evacuate, grab your to-go bag and your loved ones and leave immediately.

Stay away from windows, and shelter on the lowest level in an interior room, moving to higher ground if there is flooding or a flood warning.

Never walk or drive on flooded roads or through water.

Call 9-1-1 if your life is threatened.

After a storm:

Only return to the area of your home when authorities say it is safe to do so.

Do not enter damaged buildings until they are inspected by qualified professionals.

Never walk or drive on flooded roads or through floodwaters.

Keep an eye out for downed trees, power lines, and poles.

Protect your hands and feet with gloves and sturdy shoes.

When cleaning up, do not remove heavy debris by yourself.

Do not drink tap water until local authorities have approved its safety.

Storms And Safe Driving In Brunswick

An orange and white safety barrier is shown on a road with standing water Flooding and water emergencies don’t wait for regular business hours and neither do we.

Flash Flooding And Concerns On The Road

When clouds and rain are in the weather forecast more frequently it's time to start thinking about safe driving. Driving through flood waters is incredibly dangerous.

Recently, the Federal Emergency Management Agency advised people to use caution while driving during heavy rain. They provided three flood facts to remind drivers of the dangers of driving during and right after storms.

Fast Flood Facts

Heavy rain can bring dangerous flash flooding

6 inches of moving water can knock a person down

2 feet of moving water can sweep a vehicle away

Rain and storms can also mean it's time to think about storm and water damage to your home. Do you know who to call in the Brunswick area if you have damage?

Heavy Wind And Rain In Brunswick

Storms in the spring-time are something you will want to be ready for. Bad weather is often unpredictable, so it is important to take steps to keep your home and business safe from storm damage.

It is a smart idea to conduct an inspection of your home or business and grounds before inclement weather hits. A leaky roof or windows can cause big problems during heavy rainfall and strong winds. Do all your exterior doors and windows fit correctly, and are they properly weather-stripped? When is the last time you took a good look at the roofing of all the buildings on your property?

These are all great questions to keep in mind.

Loose shutters and unstable large trees and bushes can be a danger in high winds. Trim back trees and bushes with large heavy branches that are not in good condition so that windows and vehicles are not in danger of storm damage in windy conditions.

Many homes in older cities have drainage ditches or creeks on the property. Take time to inspect these areas and remove debris or dirt that might obstruct the flow of water from a heavy rain. A clogged drainage ditch or creek bed can cause a lot of damage by flooding property during, or even after, a storm. Drainage can be an issue in parking areas as well, so you will want to consider sand-bagging in some instances.

Do you have a system in place that will help you to get information to everyone you care about in case of a weather emergency? Most of us use our cell phones to communicate, but in the case of a bad storm, your cell phone service could be at risk. You might consider installing a good old-fashioned landline in case area cell phone towers are damaged or go down. If you or a family member gets stuck at work or out doing errands, others will worry, so keeping those lines of communication open can keep everyone safe and worry-free.

SERVPRO of Brunswick specializes in storm and flood damage restoration. Our crews are highly trained and we use specialized equipment to restore your property to its pre-storm condition.

A Storm Checklist For Your Commercial Site Might Prevent Loss To Your Brunswick Business

3/25/2021 (Permalink)

A checklist on white paper is shown SERVPRO of Brunswick is always ready to help if your business experiences storm damage (912) 264 6094

Storms can happen without much warning during the season and bring with them a lot of water. All that water can be devastating to a commercial building, causing damage that can take a significant amount of time and expense to repair.

Preparing Your Business For Storms In Brunswick

There are several steps you can take to prepare your Brunswick business for storms and possible flooding; preventive measures will reduce the amount of flood damage your business sustains and the time it can take to bring your operations back to normal. Here is a checklist to help you:

GUTTERS: Gutter systems are in place to divert water to proper drainage areas, and they can only do a sufficient job when they are well-maintained. If your gutters are clogged with dead leaves and debris, rainwater can overflow and saturate the ground around the foundations causing damage there, while backed-up water can spill over into wall structures. That can be instrumental in allowing mold to take hold; mold can begin to grow in damp conditions in 24-48 hours! As you can see, a regular cleaning schedule for your gutters is a good idea, which is why it’s at the top of our checklist.

STORM DRAINS: Storm drains need to be maintained properly, as well. These are in place to move excess water away from buildings and parking areas. Your local government is usually responsible here but keeping an eye on drains around your property will help you to be able to report a problem right away.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN: Have a plan ready for your employees in the event of dangerous storms and flooding. Make sure you have a system in place to communicate with everyone so that they know whether to come into work or not. Listening to weather updates is essential in these circumstances, and you’ll want to make sure you keep an emergency preparedness kit on site.

SERVPRO of Brunswick specializes in the cleanup and restoration of commercial and residential property after a water damage event. Our staff is highly trained in property damage restoration. From initial and ongoing training at SERVPRO’s corporate training facility to regular IICRC-industry certification, rest assured our staff is equipped with the knowledge to restore your property.

Tree Trimming Can Protect Your Home

9/14/2020 (Permalink)

A chainsaw is shown on a tree stump A fast response lessens the damage, limits further damage, and reduces cost. SERVPRO of Brunswick (912) 264-6094

Trees offer a number of benefits to a home's landscape. Shade and animal habitats are such an important part of a property that many people are reluctant to remove trees.

When tree limbs or the trees themselves become damaged or diseased due to age, invasive insects or storm damage, they can become a liability rather than an asset. It is important to include trees in a home maintenance plan.

Tree limbs that have died or are diseased are much more likely to cause damage to a property or home if they're ignored. Most limbs typically come crashing down during strong thunderstorms or high winds. It's not unheard of to have a large limb or even an entire tree fall at a random time.

To help prevent these accidents from damaging your yard or, even worse, your home, it's best to cut off diseased, dying or dead limbs as soon as you identify them.

Weather events can do serious damage to trees as well. In coastal Georgia, heavy snow is a rare event, but ice storms are somewhat more common. Freezing rain that falls, even as drizzle or light rain, can do serious damage to trees due to the accumulated weight of the water which freezes on every twig and limb.

The heavy weight often bends limbs and can crack or break them. If freezing rain has damaged your tree, experts recommend that you have the damage assessed and the limbs removed as soon as possible.

Damaged or diseased trees that aren't cared for as a part of routine home maintenance can bring even more disaster to your property. A tree limb that crashes through a roof or window during a storm, or topples due to icing, opens the way for rain to further damage your home's interior.

If you find yourself in this situation, experts recommend that you immediately call SERVPRO of Brunswick (912) 264-6094 for help with cleaning and restoring your home's interior.

Whether your home has experienced storm damage, flooding or fire damage, trained SERVPRO of Brunswick restoration technicians can help you clean and restore your home.

Prepare For Storms In Brunswick Now, Don't Get Caught Off Guard Later

8/28/2020 (Permalink)

A Home is shown from the front SERVPRO of Brunswick has been a trusted leader in the restoration industry since 1992

Storm damage can lead to minor repairs, or it can leave a business or home with tremendous devastation. Since you can't know what is going to happen until after the storm, preparing for the worst is best.

Consider the Electric

When water and electric mix, a major, potentially fatal, hazard can arise. If you are concerned about flood waters getting into the electric, you should have a professional consultation to find out what you can do to minimize the potential for risk.

Use Sandbags

While small sandbags are unlikely to stop all of the damage that a major flood can cause, they can be of assistance, especially if the flood is of a lesser severity. Sandbags can help to keep the water contained to one room or one part of the business or home. Even if a flood does find its way into the lower level of the company or house, you might be able to keep it there.

Make Repairs

Some problems in the construction of your business building or house might make the space more susceptible to floods. For example, uneven ground or a poor drainage system could lead to greater problems. Before the next flood comes to town, have these issues repaired. You may need to contact the landlord if you do not own the property.

Move Important Items

If you can store important items in another facility, one that is better protected against floods, then consider that option. When that is not a possibility, you should move important items, such as products, files or furniture, to higher ground. By moving these items to a different floor of the space, you are taking a step toward protecting them from the floods.

Evacuate the Building

You may hear that a flood warning or watch is in effect for your area. Taking these weather reporters seriously is of utmost importance. In the event that you keep your employees working through the weather conditions, you may discover that you are all trapped in the flood. Discussing evacuation routes and emergency-notification systems with your employees and family members should be a common procedure in your workplace or home.

Some floods cause devastating damage for both humans and structures. When you want to take precautions against major damage where you live or where you work, you should follow some basic protocols and advice for doing so. However, if there is water damage to your home or business, give SERVPRO of Brunswick a call (912) 264-6094. Our highly-trained team will complete a damage assessment and get your back to normal as soon as possible.

As a locally owned and operated business we are dedicated to serving our community and helping you when disaster strikes. We provide 24-hour emergency service and have teams and equipment standing by to help our community recover from any wind or flooding damage that happens. 19 Named Storms for Hurricane Season 2020

6/26/2020 (Permalink)

THE NOAA predicts 13 to 19 named storms for the Atlantic this year. That being said the NOAA is predicting that there is a 60% chance for an above-normal hurricane season with a 30% chance that the hurricane season will be average.

With a possibility for an above-average hurricane season - SERVPRO of Brunswick is here to remind you to reevaluate your Hurricane Preparedness Kits. When reevaluating your kit be sure to have a face mask and hand sanitizer to keep COVID 19 in mind!

“Social distancing and other CDC guidance to keep you safe from COVID-19 may impact the disaster preparedness plan you had in place, including what is in your go-kit, evacuation routes, shelters and more. With tornado season at its peak, hurricane season around the corner, and flooding, earthquakes and wildfires a risk year-round, it is time to revise and adjust your emergency plan now,” said Carlos Castillo, acting deputy administrator for resilience at FEMA.

Tornadoes Damage

4/26/2020 (Permalink)

We are in the midst of the tornado season for Southeast Georgia with our biggest threat of wind damage for our inner coastal Georgia areas. Even though tornadoes are year-round in Georgia they see their peak in March through May.

What to know about tornadoes in Georgia

Trees Falling? Rely on SERVPRO to recover your home

1/11/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO green vans with orange tree SERVPRO of Brunswick. We are HERE to HELP!

Trees offer countless benefits to a home's landscape. Their appearance, shade and animal habitats are such an important and valued part of a property that many people are reluctant to remove trees. However, when tree limbs or the trees themselves become damaged or diseased due to age, invasive insects or storm damage, they can become a liability rather than an asset. The importance of including trees in a home maintenance plan can't be overstated.

Tree limbs that have died or are diseased are much more likely to cause damage to a property or home if they're ignored. Most limbs typically come crashing down during strong thunderstorms or high winds. However, it's not unheard of to have a large limb or even an entire tree fall at a random time. To help prevent these accidents from damaging your yard or, even worse, your home, it's best to cut off diseased, dying or dead limbs as soon as you identify them.

If a tree comes crashing down on your home call the restoration professionals at the SERVPRO of Brunswick at 912-264-6094

Historic Flooding in Omaha.

4/1/2019 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Brunswick removing mud from within drywall after historic Omaha Flood in 2019

SERVPRO of Brunswick is a part of the Disaster Recovery Team that was dispatched out to Omaha, Nebraska after the snowmelt and flooding occurred in early March of 2019. This historic flood has broken the record of the last major flooding along the Missouri River back in 2011.

Our teams made the long trek from Brunswick, Georgia to Omaha, Nebraska to help business owners and homeowners recover and restore after flood damage. Unlike most of South Georgia, the Midwest had large basements that took majority of the impact from the flood. Basements were filled with 4-5 feet of water and thick mud throughout. Carpets were saturated and water drenched the walls to the point the baseboards were removing themselves.

SERVPRO of Brunswick began immediate water extraction and setting up drying equipment to preserve the home. Whichever materials where unable to dry were then removed from the home to ensure the property was not at risk of mold growth. When flooding like this occurs we look for any contaminated water that may be unsafe to be in your home (sump pump failure), and any trapped moisture that could cause mold growth. After a water damage or flooding event mold can spread throughout the home in 48 to 72 hours. As apart of the Disaster Response Team’ SERVPRO of Brunswick was able to respond quickly to each request for service!

If you experience flood damage in your coastal Georgia home contact SERVPRO of Brunswick!

Hurricane Michael

11/28/2018 (Permalink)

Crews lined up to begin restoration process after Hurricane Michael

Hurricane Michael was one of the strongest storms to hit the Florida Panhandle to ever be recorded. With sustained winds reaching up to 155mph while making landfall leading it to be the first ever Category 4 Hurricane to reach the Panhandle; while breaking national records for the fourth strongest storm to reach the United States.
Sadly, Hurricane Michael was a deadly storm and claimed 6 lives throughout Florida and Georgia.

As the SERVPRO of Brunswick wrapped up efforts in North Carolina after Hurricane Florence we were soon dispatched to help bring generators and other equipment to West Georgia after they were hit by Hurricane Michael.

After emergency crews cleared roadways and cleared it safe for disaster recovery crews to enter Florida the SERVPRO of Brunswick headed for Mexico Beach, Florida. We were truly heartbroken after seeing the destruction that Hurricane Michael brought onto these cities. People without homes, food, and power. We witnessed the grace of our Nation and the unity we all share when we face disaster. Tents were set up to pass out food, shelters were set up to cover those who lost their homes, people came all across the United States to lend a helping hand. The SERVPRO of Brunswick quickly sprung into action by setting up drying equipment, tarping roofs, and boarding up windows to prevent further damage.

Thank you to all of the amazing first responders like the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, National Guard, Firefighters, Police Officers, Patrolmen, Linmen, Dispatchers, EMT’s and Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, SERVPRO Disaster Recovery Teams, and for all of the countless volunteers that gave their time to HELP.

We remain #FloridaStrong in the days ahead of the restoration and recovery process.
